Pathognomony

Pathognomony means characteristic for a particular disease. A pathognomonic sign is a particular sign whose presence means that a particular disease is present beyond any doubt. Labeling a sign or symptom "pathognomonic" represents a marked intensification of a "diagnostic" sign or symptom.
